Jasper, Alabama

We arrived at our friends home in Jasper and it's beautiful! Julia and Tim live in a converted barn and it's so neat! The first floor is a large storage area and office. The second floor is the main living area.

Our friends took us to music night at Warehouse 319 in historic downtown Jasper and we had a great time. Only two musicians, but they played like there were 6 or 7 people in the band! Harmonica, beat box, guitars and banjo and the singing wasn't bad either. They make really good drinks, so you have to go if you're ever in town. Jasper has a lot of colorful donkey's hanging around and you'll know what I mean when you see one! Alabama is beautiful and Jasper is one of those towns that you see in the movies, just spectacular!

The next day we went to the old town of Oakman, Alabama. They had bands playing in an old historic town that had been turned into a museum. It was fantastic and yes Pinky put me in jail. I don't know what I did, but I'm sure she planned the trip just for this purpose. She did let me out because I promised to rub her feet later that evening!

We stopped for a bite to eat at the Bull Pen Steakhouse and BBQ. Pinky ordered the grilled catfish, hush puppies and sweet potato fries. I ordered the deluxe hamburger steak with grilled green peppers, onion in gravy over rice. They also included a huge hot roll with lots of butter. The hamburger steak probably weighed 2 pounds and I ate every bit of it!

We headed back to the house and Tim made us a really big fire. It was kind of cool and the fire was a very welcomed addition to the evening.

Visiting with friends and family and filling our journey with excellent adventures was our mission and we're off to a great start.

Thanks Julia and Tim. You are great people and the hospitality was even better!
